Townes

As far as songwriting goes, it doesn't get much better than this.

Pumping Iron

Jarvis Cocker and Jason Buckle formed Relaxed Muscle in 2002. I'm not much of a Pulp fan, but this i can get into

wiser

What the fuck was I doing in 2007 that made me miss this show?

ADULT. - Turn Your Back (Live!) from Danny Kim on Vimeo.

Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man

The track is haunting. The video, eh, not so much. But at the end of the day, its about the music.

Silky smooth

If you are around next Thursday (3/10) and find yourself with nothing to do, head to The Smell and check out Silk Flowers. They will also be at The Echo 3/13, but lets face it-The Smell is cheaper, and you are guaranteed to be one of only 12 people in attendance.

My anthem

Did I write this song? No. Lydia Tomkiw and her husband Don Hedeker did. They were the visionaries that made up Algebra Suicide. Lydia died in 2007. My only hope is that this song was played (at least part of it) at her funeral.

Just the right amount of uncomfortable

Its insane to think that in all my years of Tool lovin', I waited until today to look up their videos. Yes, I am a lover of Tool. And proud of it.

Austra.

Just watch and listen. My only issue with this video is that I was not asked to participate.

Wake up wake up wake up...its the first of the month

Great video from FrYars for their 2009 "Visitors". Watch closely and you'll catch glimpses of Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode (he is also singing on the chorus)

Better late than never

Midnight Movies were a band not to be missed live. Lead singer Gena Olivier, with a voice like butter, also manned the drums as if it was second nature.  They regrouped in 2007, changed around the line up, and lost my attention. I like to pretend that their 2003 release "Strange Design" was their first and last. I also have a theory that Bat for Lashes completely ripped Gena off...you be the judge.

Good morning, beautiful

I have been a fan of Songs: Ohia (and its singer Jason Molina) for some time now.  Crippling vocals and a devastating melody make each and every one of his songs a prize. He re-named the band Magnolia Electric Co in 2003, and with that came the decline (in my humble opinion). Don't get me wrong, there are a few gems on their 2004 release "Pyramid Electric Co", but seems to me the soul just ain't the same.

The Boys Kesher

Somewhere between These New Puritains and The Rapture, you'll find Adam Kesher. Yes, that's a lot of high pitched, forceful sound. But, it works. And if you don't believe me just check out their video for "Gravy Train". Oh, did I mention they are french? That makes them extra hot in my book.
You can find downloads (and great remixes) on hypem.com and soundcloud.com

Ciara on my mind

A friend recently brought this video to my attention. It has been a while since I have seen a body of work that is so innately sexy, rich, and fluid. It is also inspiring me to take some dance lessons...

Mashin' yo brainz- Crystal Castles vs Waka Flocka Flame

Oh Sunday...
What better way to welcome you than dancing around in my bedroom at 8:23am to this mash up from The Hood Internet. I typically run the other way when I hear the phrase "mash up", but this track is so solid, so unbelievably danceable, I just had to share.
